  1. I like the consideration for damaging the bracing. What about perhaps covering the business end of the go-bars with thin leather or cork?

    Don’t know how it would work, but it should help or eliminate the need for the ‘cauls’ you used.



  2. Using recycled wood is a great idea the rwooded should have a real mellow tone. I just ran across a post on mimf.com about reusing old doors, windows and wood/window jambs because they were often made of quartersawn wood. I’m going to stay on the lookout for sources of old wood too. For this build I am taking the direction of using some alternative woods and techniques to keep the cost down but still end up with a good quality instrument. I’ve done quite a bit of research on other luthier’s websites and collected ideas to use on this build. I think this will be a fun project. Thanks for following it and I would like to follow how your build goes as well.Randy
